The FV Shenandoah is one boat with three lives: tender, seiner, and now, teacher. Centerpiece of the Harbor History Museum's Maritime Gallery, the Shenandoah was built in Gig Harbor, Washington, by Croatian-born boat builders and fished by two Croatian families for 73 years. This pedigree made her ideal for adding to the museum's collection but a challenge to restore for safe exhibition. This presentation connects the tale of the FV Shenandoah, from her family fishing history to present-day restoration, including the special considerations made to ensure an authentic curatorial and conservation approach to her preservation and interpretation.
