A pod-mounted electric drive mounted is a nearly silent propulsion option. There is very little maintenance, no oil or diesel on board, no exhaust, quick power delivery, and simple control. These drive systems are put in new designs as well as adapted for use in existing hulls. As battery technology improves, electric propulsion is becoming a viable option for many boats. This presentation will examine a couple of boats that have been outfitted with different electric drives.
