2022 Wooden Boat Festival

Have you ever wondered how a sailboat sails upwind? Or how some high speed boats appear to fly completely above the water?

In this presentation, using some physics and history we'll go through how the foil, this odd shape, can allow us to harness the powers abundant in the wind itself, and beyond! With some geometric layout techniques, we'll also cover some methods on how to build a foil-shaped centerboard or rudder for a small boat in the shop.
